Greek Yogurt Dough Slider Buns – A Healthier Take on a Comfort Food Favorite
By Ali Propeck
If you’ve encountered the wildly popular Greek yogurt dough trend, especially the bagels, you know the secret! I was immediately impressed when I first made them; they rose beautifully and achieved the satisfying texture of a traditional bagel. The best part? Using Greek yogurt naturally boosts the protein content and cuts the calories in a beloved comfort food. This discovery sparked an obsession! I began adapting the simple base dough recipe to create healthier versions of many of my favorite foods. Today, I’m excited to share my adaptation for Slider Buns. These lighter rolls are perfect for your favorite sammies (they pair wonderfully with my Dilly Chicken Salad recipe!), sliders, or as a hearty accompaniment to soup. This recipe is also easily scalable to meet your needs.

Greek Yogurt Slider Buns
Ingredients
Method
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C)
- Combine the yogurt, flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix thoroughly.
- Form the dough. Don't hesitate to use your hands to form a cohesive ball.
- Knead. Transfer onto floured surface and knead until the dough is no longer sticky and has a smooth texture.
- Divide. Cut dough into eight equal pieces.
- Shape. Roll each piece into a small uniform ball.
- Place dough balls in a baking dish that been lightly greased or lined with parchment paper.
- Brus tops of buns with oil or melted butter (I used avocado oil).
- Bake for 18 to 20 min, or until tops are golden brown and buns are cooked through.
- Enjoy!
